My One Year Check-up

Today I had my first annual check-up. It was time for my booster shots, and my human took me to Zamzows to their vet clinic. I'm not real thrilled about traveling, but it wasn't very far from home.

We didn't have to wait very long, but it was interesting. Cats were out numbered by at least 3 to 1. Some of the dogs were very noisy and really BIG. A couple of them got too close to my carrier and I let them know about it!

Here are a few pictures of the doggies:

This was a cute doggie and very photogenic.
These puppies were SO adorable, and only 9 weeks old.
Not a good view of this one!

This dog was pretty BIG!

According to the vet I am healthy, and of course gorgeous!!! I like the vet, but I'm glad I only have to visit once a year. I don't like 'sharing' my personal space with dogs, especially the BIG ones.

Nothing much else is new in my life these days. My human works in the mornings, so I just laze around the house until she comes home. Sometimes she has errands after work and doesn't get home until late afternoon. I make sure to let her know that I need some special attention when she does get home. She has to remember that I am 'Queen' of the castle around here. I am finally adjusting to the new routine, but it was more fun to have her here all the time.

Guess that's it for now. Here is a happy meow to all of my furry friends (even dogs).

Things I Play With

I have lots of toys, but I have a few favorites. Three of the favorites are small cloth balls that measure about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 inches. I bat them around and chase after them. I also pick them up with my mouth and carry them around the house. I have had the purple one longer and it is the most favorite of the three. I often take it to my feeding dish and leave it there. That is usually the first place my human looks for it when it goes 'missing'.

Lately my most favorite toy is a small pink ladybug. It is only about an inch and I love to carry it around the house. What's really fun is when it goes underneath something and then I look to my human to get it for me. She spends a LOT of time crawling around on the floor peeking under furniture and appliances looking for my bug. That's a lot of fun to watch!

Sometimes I have to walk around to show my human where my little bug is. I usually know right where it went, but sometimes it is hard to see under things.

Last week I got into trouble because I was getting into some storage drawers in the bathroom. Well, they have been replace with two medium sized storage tubs that have lids that snap on. I haven't figured out how to open them (YET).

Today has been an interesting day. As I watched out my favorite window (by my human's desk) I saw some birdies. I chattered at them and watched them until they flew away. I sure wish I could go out and play with them, but it is such a BIG world out there and it isn't very safe for me.

Well, that's it for today. I've been playing a lot today and it is time for a nap. Come visit me again.

Frustation!

Today I am very frustrated. I am being deprived of a fun activity. Last night (after my human went to bed) I decided to investigate the plastic drawers that are in her bathroom:

My human keeps her hair doodads in these drawers. There are so many things to play with in those drawers. I like to carry around and chew on the hair stuff, so normally my human keeps me locked out of the bathroom when she is fixing her hair. Well, since she has gone nitey nite and not aware of what I am up to, I thought this was a good time to see what I could accomplish. I finally got the top drawer open:

I took out some of the hair bands and a scrunchy. I was having fun playing with them, but my human came out of her bedroom and caught me. Bummer! She took them from me and put them away. And then she turned the drawers around so I couldn't get into them.

Today she tried to tape them shut to keep me out. Well, I just figured out how to get the tape off. Not happy with me, she turned them around again. So I just pushed the top onee off and almost got to my prizes when she caught me again.

For punishment she closed me into my playroom for a couple of hours. I am out now, but the bathroom door is closed. I wonder if I can figure out how to open the door?!

I guess I am being a real pain, but I get bored with my regular toys and then I get into trouble. I kind of feel sorry for my human because she really loves me...

Hi there,
This is the human here. Livie has been a little pill lately. I think she is really bored. Mabye some of her 'friends' will come over for a visit soon. They have more energy than I do and like to get on the floor and play with Livie.

Pictures Then and Now

I thought you might like to see how much I have grown:

Birthday

I had my first birthday this week. It sure doesn't seem like I have been here that long, but I am thankful that I have a really nice home and a loving human that cares for me a lot. Right now I am sitting in front of the monitor (as usual) watching my human write this blog. Sometimes I want her to pay more attention to me so I stand in front of the monitor to distract her.

Part of my day is playing with my toys and getting my human to go find the ones I send under the furniture and appliances. She still hasn't found some of my hiding places! I'm not cruel, but it's kind of fun watching her go all over the house trying to find my favorite toys. I think she enjoys it, too. I wish she could find my purple ball, it is my favorite one.

We have a routine when it is my human's bedtime. I hide at one end of the loveseat while she is getting ready for bed, and then she comes over to tell me nite, nite. Sometimes I grab her ankle when she walks toward the bedroom because I want her to stay and play for a while.

I wish she would leave her bedroom door open at night, but I still like to play with her feet under the covers and bite at the blanket. We tried it a few times, but she decided she wanted to sleep instead of play so the door stays closed for now.

I have been having fun chasing the bugs that fly near the window in my 'playroom'. I talk to them too. My favorite places to nap are the desk chair, on top of a stack of boxes in the living room, on the chest at the end of my human's bed, and on my human's chest. This latter choice causes problems for my human when she is trying to read (which is a lot of the time), but she usually stops reading and cuddles and pets me a lot.

I don't have a very loud voice (my meow is more like a squeek), but my human thinks it's cute. Also, most of the time when I purr you can't tell unless you are holding me. Maybe those will get louder when I get older.

My human is going on vacation in about 6 weeks and she says I will get a new person to stay with me here. I hope I get to meet her before my human leaves. I'd like to know what I'm getting in to!

I'm getting more social when people come to visit my human, but it takes me a few minutes to warm up to them. One thing I don't like are sudden noises. I have very sensitive hearing and whenever the neighbors in our building make a noise it disrupts my sleep. Oh well, my human assures me that no one will come in and hurt me.

Well, I need to take a nap so I'll say goodbye for now. Remember pets are very loving, so hug your pet today!

Snow Day and other Stuff

I LOVE snow days, but I still can't figure out how to catch the snowflakes! I also like to 'talk' to them. I wonder if they know what I am saying?
I haven't posted to my blog in several months, so I thought I would take some time out of my very busy day and let you know what I have been doing.
I spend a lot of time cuddling with my human, and playing with my toys. I like to hide my toys, too. It is fun to watch my human try to find them for me, most of the time it's a lost cause for her.
Sometimes I get too ornery so I get sent to my playroom. When that happens I spend a lot of time sitting in the desk chair napping.
I am 10 months old now and I'm not as thin as I used to be. I haven't been weighed in quite a while, but I probably weigh over 10 pounds. That's okay cause it's just more of me to love!
My human is trying to train me to be good at night so I can sleep on her bed. So far what I like best is to chew on her feet through the blanket, so I'm not let into the bedroom at night yet. I know she would like to have me cuddle on the bed at night, but I won't settle down. Maybe when I get older.
Guess that's about it for now. I'm going to go chase snowflakes again.
